NRFC Win at the National RFU Presidents Awards 2007

We were runners up in two categories, Modernisation and More Coaches, which is a recognition to the club as a whole and to those involved. We have received £100 for each of these, and were awarded trophies last night by the RFU.

We had to describe what we have done in each of these categories, and these will be case studies that are likely to be included in a ;Models of Good Practice' booklet the RFU are creating to be published and distributed to the game in general.

Additionally, Middlesex County RFU presented an award to Wayne Meek (who is leaving NRFC) as the Young Volunteer of the Year.

Recent Events

Carnival

Thank you to everyone who showed an interest in the mini rugby demonstrations on Saturday at the Greenford Carnival. All the coaches and players appreciated your enthusiasm and it gave us a real lift during a long and hot day.
Anyone interested in bring their son or daughter down to play mini rugby (8-11 years) or youth rugby (12-16 years - Geoff, Colin please correct me if this is wrong, as I'm sure it is, and let us know) we are starting up our season again with a training session on Sunday 2nd September 10am-12noon at Cayton Park Playing Fields, Cayton Road, Greenford, Middlesex UB6 8BJ, home
of the mighty Northolt Rugby Football Club.
This year is especially important to the club as it is our 50th season. We have training and games arranged throughout the season and we make a promise to play everyone whom turns up to a game so that know one is left out - we all contribute!
Please contact , Darren Flynn, Mini & Youth rugby coach on: 07736 245 340 for further details, or simply turn up any Sunday from 10am-12noon and play rugby. Children and parents are all welcome.

Volleyball

On Sunday 1st July the 30th annual Polonia mixed volleyball tournament was held at NRFC for the first time. As hosts we felt it would be rude not to enter a team ourselves, so we did!.

The Northolt Ducks had a great day learning how to play volleyball and we defiantly improved during the day, although we lost all our games the margin decreased at each attempt(this may have been due to the alcohol level of the other teams). Hopefully the rest of the participants enjoyed the day as much as we did. Thanks Polonia for organising a fun event.

If anyone wants to play again or find out more about volleyball Polonia’s web site address is. http://polonialondonvc.bttradespace.com/

Cricket

To kick-off our 50th season, on Saturday 9th June Northolt RFC (present) played CAV/Northolt RFC (past) at cricket. Northolt RFC (present) posted a fantastic score of 61 despite CAV/Northolt RFC (past) having 21 fielders. However this score was quickly reached by CAV/Northolt RFC (past) as they had a couple of young ringers who actually knew how to play.

Club Physio
We are pleased to announce that Niall OGorman Bsc MCSP has joined us to carry out club physiotherapy. If you need physio attention please contact Niall - his details are on our contact page.

Training
Training begins on Tuesday the 3rd of July and runs every Tuesday and Thursdays for the remainder of the season. Please come along and get a good start to the coming season.

MINI AND YOUTH RUGBY
We also operate mini/youth rugby and have girls and boys, mainly aged around U13-U14, training most Sunday mornings at 10am during the season. Please feel free to come along even if you are outside hat age group, or contact Colin and Darren for more details. New players are always welcomed, no matter what age or experience.

Also, don’t forget that apart from Mens & kids rugby, we have men’s & women’s Gaelic football available through the Club, as well as kids association football, cycling and darts, and a bar that is open most 4 evenings a week and much of the weekend.
